Montalbano Homes started in Chicago in 1975. They continue to build in Illinois, but have also branched out to the Arizona housing market.

Their own website touts things like building excellence, quality, and customer service. The terms are what you would expect every other corporate website to use to describe their philosophies and core values.

They also claim they only choose the craftsmen that are considered to be at the top of their respective fields to work on the construction of your home. I'm not trying to be cynical, but these things are difficult to prove. Most Arizona new home builders talk about the industry awards that they have won, but Montalbano doesn't mention any. Although awards can be very political so I'm not sure you can put much stock into that either.

A noteworthy aspect of Montalbano Homes is that they have earned the ENERGY STAR® label. ENERGY STAR qualified new homes are quite a bit more energy efficient than homes that are constructed only to meet the minimum code requirements. The ENERGY STAR designation is only given once the home is inspected by an independent home energy rater. These independent tests are what you as a home buyer should be interested in and looking for.

If you are looking for an energy efficient home or a "green" home builder, you should definitely check out their new home development called Travata. It just happens to be in Peoria, Arizona.
